Hill Climbing and AutoX vids and commentary

Ben has stated that the RaceCar is actually going to compete in the Polish Mountain Hill Climb this year (2008), which just happens to be in scenic Flintstone, MD (just a stone's throw from OT's place). In honor of this, I've started up this thread with the video from last year's fastest time (yes, it appears to be owned by a Honda Civic).

Here's another video from a Mustang... He didn't do quite that well

Can you say "OUCH!" ?

So, where does one find the rules for competing in hill climbing? August is definitely a ways off

Dave,
Thanks! Naw, Racer X is getting picked up this Thursday (along with the old engine and 4HEAT). I'm thinking the the SVreX II might just be a candidate for hill climbing duties

AutoX at FedEx

For Chike - an RX-8 (going reaaaaaalllllyyyyy slllllloooooooowwww)

For the "Next Step" SVXi owners - a Camaro running in ESP (the next step for SVX owners after GS)

Okay, so ignore the fact that the camera dropped off of its mount

Notice a couple of things about FedEx -- 1. at no time can you actually see the entire course, 2. yes, the course has an uphill and downhill aspect, 3. there are always at least 2 (if not 3) cars on the course at the same time

Since we are on the topic of Hillclimbing... Here is a video of Stevin Rankins (aka. "Pleiades" on NASIOC) going up one of the hillclimb events in his 06 STi... He is regarded by many in the southeast to be possibly the best Autocrosser (or even overall driver) in the area... And it's funny to think of when you meet him because he is VERY overweight and nerdy looking and ALWAYS has either a coffee or a cigarette in his hands

Harry,
Just copy the embed code from the YouTube site and then paste it in after you click on the "Tube" button that's on the far upper right in the "Reply to Thread" window. You'll need to delete a lot of the code, so the final product looks something like -- YOUTUBE v/Tyz80Isk9u8&hl /YOUTUBE (with no spaces to the right and left of the code and [ ] brackets around the YOUTUBEs.
