Tranny flair AFTER rebuild
So the SVX has been in the shop for 5 weeks now. For the 2nd to 3rd flair at low speeds. First they changed a dropping resister that controls pressure to the clutches / bands. Still had problem, but the pressure was better. REBUILT the tranny (found burned bands and clutches), second time in a year, under warrenty. Just got everything back together and IT STILL flairs, up to 2500 on light throttle. They tell me they've checked the electronics and it's OK. What now? these guys, (a formerly reputable shop and a member of ATRA) really have no clue..
Help Collins 92 (I think I remember it being a shade of white or something) |

Sorry i didn't hear about your tranny problems earlier. I am from new york also, probably about 3 hours from syracuse. Port Jervis to be exact. If you are not able to figure out your problem i highly recommend Tri-State Transmission. They took about 3 weeks to do the tranny but it was worth the wait. High quality job, they completely rebuilt the transmission and even installed a cooler to help with the heating issue all for $2,000. I've had my transmission now for about 3,000 miles and all is very well. if you would like there number let me know. Hope all works out for you.

I'm going to make a guess that they did not adjust the bands properly. The literature I have seen says to torque to a certain value then back off either 2 or 3 turns. It's the 2 OR 3 thing - and I have no idea which is correct - that might cause your trouble. The procedure to adjust, once installed, is complicated by not much room, but can be found by searching past posts. I did mine by myself with two wrenches as have others.
My personal opinion is that a contributing factor Level-10 addresses is that some pumps and/or valve bodies have marginal flow at less than mid-throttle. |

or replace your TPS. I bought a new TPS and it works great now.

Just got the car back and it was the Throttle Position Sensor!... Now after a year of this being bad, the 2nd gear clutches were gone. But now I have my car back and the Pinion makes a Wicked Club!!!
Anyway, It's great to be among the roadworthy again Collins |
