rob has a GPS, it gives you pinpoint accuracy for speed.

I hit 145ish once, she was starting to slow down a bit so i got off it.

Wow. That's a cool girlfriend. I'm happy when my girlfriend simply ignores the fact that I'm driving 110 mph and doesn't tell me to slow down. :-)

Most speedos are pretty accurate......up to about 30mph. After 60mph, they are usually 5-10% off.

I don't know why people keep asking if its off 'up or down'. I've said this twice, in this thread, that when the SVX speedo reads 70mph, I'm actually only going about 65.5mph. Hence, the speedo is OVERRATED. If you think you're going 120mph, you're probably doing 114ish.

The fastest I've ever gone was 80-90.

Yea my speedo is overrated. Everytime I pass one of those police speed sensors that tells you your speed, it says I'm going like 37 when the needle says around 40.

Mine has always been right on. Police Speed sensor always the same as my speedometer. Just depends on the car i suppose. This is a common problem with all cars, it isn't like its an svx specific problem. Just happens

As stated in other threads an unconfirmed 145mph up hill too.

Next time I will do it with a GPS holding copilot to please the sceptics.

Actually, Rob, this is the first and only time you mentioned that in this thread so far.

Aside from that you are not necessarily correct. Even when comparing the same rated tire size, each manufacturer's version of that rated size will be off from the rest by some amount, larger or smaller. That alone will cause a difference in actual speed compared to indicated speed. We already discussed in an older thread how just 4lbs difference in air pressure between front and rear tires can cause a drastic difference in RPM's a tire makes over a given distance. Add that factor in with the slight differences in manufacturing specs between brands compounded by tread wear differences and you have the recipe for widely varying accuracy in speedometer readings and the faster the speed the greater the inaccuracy. Your particular tire brand, wear and pressure cause your SVX to read optimistically. Some one else may actually read pessimistically depending on his combination of variables. By just increasing the pressure in your tires you might find that you could get the indicated speed to be dead accurate.

Besides, if what you say were true the folks who like to bust on your SVX for being slow would really have reason to pick on you for it being even slower than they thought!
