Is it just me

I am getting pop-ups on the network pages. Anyone else getting them too or is it just me? I don't have any other windows with IE open.

You shouldn't be getting any popups...

back when I had a PC, I once found that I had some little piece of spywar (vx2 or something?) that would add popups to webpages, perhaps it is something like that?

Internet Explorer colllects a lot of cookies and ad programs stored in the registry. Download AD Aware from dowload.com, you can clean out all the cookies and hidden programs within IE.

I use a program called adsubtract pro that works great. If you want it, I'll email it along with the serial.

Significant Technical Input
Personally I like Pop Up Killer, but it's gone by the wayside (owner couldn't keep up with it any longer.) It learns most on it's own and you can just double click on the ones it doesn't catch to teach it the rest. If you goof up it's easy to un-list a popup. I have a copy I can send (2.78mb) if you want.

I'm not using any software to prevent them, and I receive absolutely zero pop-ups on Network pages.

Banners and pop up ads

I-alcyone mentioned a Good program to use.

Ad aware. This can be found at Downloads.com or hotfiles.com
Make sure you get a recent copy or keep the signature file up to date.
It is small and works well at removing spyware/Cookies.

Ad subtract also works well when just out and about on the Net.

Check out the AD counter and see how many nasty lil ads it took care of.

There should be no banner ads on the network.

i use Ad-Aware (to eliminate spy-ware), and Tweak-XP has pop-up killer and a nifty little ad-killer that eliminates ALL ads, banners, etc. pretty cool!

Ad-aware is a greeeat program. If you have Kazaa or some other P2P file sharing program, that is why the pop ups appear. If you run adaware and delete that spyware from kazaa, it no longer works. Certain programs are designed only to work with the spyware installed, but there are many many ways to get around that.
