Another Q

cool. I wasnt sure so I had to ask. another question I had is how do i know if I have a component driveshaft? Im thinking the best way to do it is getting it lenthened then rebalanced.

the legacy shaft is know to fit well with no downsides. shotgunslade has one in his 5mt and I have kept close tabs on his car and he is not experiencing any problems. The component shaft looks like 2 driveshafts held together by a flange(much like the rear diff flange)

the 6mt is bascially the same except you need to extend two other peices on the shift linkage as well for the reverse lockout to function properly. there is also no need to extend the driveshaft or the speedo cable

I think I read somewhere that the center bearing bolt holes were not in the correct postion? Does anyone think it will cost more to get a legacy driveshaft or get it lenthend?

clutch?

Tom...Do you reccomend using a stage one Exedy clutch kit with your kit. OR do you think just the clutch will be sufficent? I found the kit for $340 but I found just the disk for around $140. Where do you reccomend purchasing it from?

the stage 1 is good for stock power applications. I would highly suggest getting the whole clutch kit as the higher forced clutch is all in the pressure plate anyway

Silly 5 speed questions

Okay so im pulling all of the auto trans wires threw the firewall and im trying to figure out should I remove all of the two big connector wires or do I need any of that crap? I also found my starter bolts run all the way threw the tranny. The SVX motor has provisions for one. Do i put a heli coil in it? 2 plugs on the rear of the 5 spd...one is reverse light switch the other is ?

Tuck them up inside the car, it'd be good to have them there if the car ever has to go back.

Could use a helicoil, I just used a piece of round stock that I threaded and made into a cone shape so it mated with the hole on the transmission after I ground it a little bit, so it had a stud where the one on the 4eat was

Of the 2 large tranny connectors, one is not used, the other is used for the reverse lights, cruise and neutral grounding.

more wiring questions?

First off..Sorry tom if im hijacking your thread but I think this will be the most complete thread about the conversion. ..Im trying to get all of the wiring straigt. In the huck/toms write up the depressed clutch position sensor must close the circuit when depressed. That switch goes up to the black and yellow wire and the blue and white wire on one of the auto tranny connectors. The reverse lights hook up to the reverse switch on the 5 speed im assuming. and i guess I dont need the in gear hooked up to anything?. Also I need to make a jumper on the Ecm side to enable cruise. and im still fuzzy on the auto shifter selector harness. thanks guys

The white connector on the trans should hold a pair of light green wires right?? these are the reverse light wires to be spiced into the two wires right next to the Neutral wires on the auto harness. Not sure exactly of what the wire colors are right now maybe someone else can shed some light on this. The black connector Should hold a green wire and a black wire is the "in gear" wire. This is for the cruise control on the mt cruise computer which we do not need so this connector can be left alone, try to tie it up and out of the way. Why do you need a jumper for the cruise?? Should work as long as you use the clutch switch

Its not a jumper for the cruise (my fault) its the tourqe control jumper wire. Is that still needed? Do i need to do anything with the interior auto selector harness?

I am pretty sure thats the harness you are splicing into. Do not do the torque control jumper, will cause a very large hesitation. Thats about it
