Upgrading the Engine Mounts
Is there a way to upgrade the engine and tranny mount so that they are stiffer? I am asking because I want to reduce the amount of engine movement in the engine bay upon acceleration. I am aware that this creates a shock to the tranny but I still want to persue this. Any suggestions? Does STI, Impreza, etc has stiffer mounts that can be used? Thanks for any help..
I am attacking the little things that help reduce the 1/4 mile time. Engine movement, rear squat...etc. Just focusing on the mount right now.

Kevin,
Well established fixes already in place....Gruppe N motor mounts and poly-filled trans mount. You can also go with a poly filled "dogbone". I've got pics of all three in my locker. The motor mounts have the highest "difficulty factor" of the three, only because you have to choose between using washers or welding spacers on them to get them to work with the stock SVX brackets. -Bill

Excellent! Thanks for the responses. I like simplicity. Will go for the WRX mounts.

you can use the wrx brackets but it raises the motor up... I had done them like that once... BUT with the hood clearances on mine being tight I did it right the second time around.

Can someone give more information on this? I have my engine out of the car and noticed that both engine mounts are completely broken. I am just looking for the cheapest way to fix this. The stock mounts are $300 a pair. Do i use regular wrx mounts, or sti mounts? does it matter what year? About how much did it cost for the mounts and mounting brackets?/? Thanks

I think the last time I called them they said November.... Just got a set from some dealer in Georgia instead, got sick of them not calling and not having them to sell ....so is it okay to just slap these in? or do we still need the three washers??

I called rallispec a few times today and got no answer. So i found some oem sti mounts on nasioc for $40 shipped. Cheapest i could find and he said he would ship them today. The classified forum over there is huge. too bad more parts arent compatible.
