Anyone painted their SVX in denver?

I am currently looking for a recommendation of a good body/paint shop in the denver area. I was hit by a careless driver a few months back (in another subaru) and found a used fender (thanks Allen) to keep the insurance from totaling it. I want to repaint the whole car the original color but am skeptical of the maaco paint jobs I see around town. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No f'ing way they should total it over that. Just have them fix it dude. That's a $1k job max.

Re: Anyone painted their SVX in denver?

they agreed not to total it after i found the fender, now i just need to install it and get the whole car painted, want to fix all the little chips and dings from 20yrs of use. wouldn't mind spending a couple grand to get it painted but for that money would want a flawless job .

To really do it right and get the flawless job you desire (removing plastic cladding and garnishes, removing door handles, locks, rubber moldings, etc., getting new plastic clips) would be in the $3000-3500 range I would think.

I have seen a $2000 paint job on the SVX and it looks fine from 15 feet away.

Re: Anyone painted their SVX in denver?

well i better come up on the paint budget. i don't want to get crazy but i have already spent more than what i paid for the car doing everything else so i might as well not skimp on the only part people see. i want it to look perfect on close inspection, it already looks ok at 15 feet even with the dent.

Re: Anyone painted their SVX in denver?

3500 won't get you much in terms of a quality paint job. Paint and supplies alone you're talking about a grand, leaving 50 hours or so at $50 for r&r, prep, painting, clear coat and buff. A truer sense for the checkbook would be a minimum of $5k for a solid, but not show quality job. To get into the $3500 range you'll likely need to do much of the r&r yourself. Just make sure all the shops you go to are on the same page for estimating. When I got the Tivver painted I insisted on more coats then most places typically do as I hope to have a 20 year paint job.

I totally agree. I repainted my SVX and spent more than I want to remember but to do it right, it takes lots of time and money.
