Have you tried this?
Driving without shoes.
I'm a shoe person. Have been since I was a wee one, prone stepping on sharp things all the time. Last week my dawgs were keeling myself, so I de-shoed. Sweet liberation. There's a feeling of control, like the difference between using arctic mitts and bare hands to steer. Doitnow.

Driving without shoes can get extra fines tacked onto a moving violation in some states.
I don't do it because I'm used to driving with shoes. Taking them off changes my feel for the pedals.

I'm gonna check that out, Nick.
In Minnesota, at least, it ain't. http://www.hometownsource.com/troope...5tootsies.html A couple of years ago I asked an Illinois Highway Patrolman if barefoot driving was illegal, and he said, "We don't exactly promote it, but no, it's not illegal." When I was younger (hey, it was the '60's) I hardly ever wore shoes in the summer and I've pretty much always driven shoeless (and sockless) on long trips.

That's one of the reasons that racing drivers have special shoes.
http://www.speedwaremotorsports.com/...pine_shoes.asp Another reason is fireproofing. My friend Graeme wears race boots even for road driving because the pedals in his Westfield are so close together that you can't actually press just one pedal if you're wearing big clunky DMs. |
