BAD NEWS! THE Svx took on the ditch and tree and lost

So I havent been on in a while and figured i would break the news here to see what you all think i should do. I was on a dirt road in the rain a few weeks ago and as i came around the corner i was unable to correct in time before the passenger side wheels grabbed the steep slope of the ditch on the side of the road and pulled me in. The following is the damage that occurred. The impact was approximately 25-30mph along the passenger side. Slid sideways into a tree and a group of smaller trees/ bushes. Blew all the stationary windows out on the passenger side. From what i can tell a tree contacted the front fender and then definitely hit right where the trunk attaches as it knocked the trunk completely off its hinges and slammed into the drivers side of the car. I am thinking the car is a loss and i should find a donor car but wanted to get your all opinons.

Whoa, creases or mis-allignments on multiple panels.... lots of missing glass.... I'd hate to bankroll a fix. If it is mechanically good, you may want to look for a straight car that can accept your mechanicals.

Re: BAD NEWS! THE Svx took on the ditch and tree and lost

yow.

Have to agree... this might be a parts car now, unfortunately.

Sad, but glad nobody was hurt.

There is the guy (forget the screen name at this instant...) who is selling a very nice Pearlie in Florida, who can't seem to get a bite, and is now talking about separating the aftermarket mods from the car...

'just sayin...

Re: BAD NEWS! THE Svx took on the ditch and tree and lost

Yea i figured it was gonna have to go the route of a parts car now. Unfortunately I have no excess cash for another vehicle. I was thinking of just cutting some plexi-glass and rolling with it for a while till i can save up. That is if the suspension isnt totally fubar'd. Good thing is it started right up and drove onto the flat bed trailer once we pulled it out of the ditch and off the 15 ft tree it was perched on. Yea about the only good thing is no one was hurt. Makes me sick every time i look in the back yard. But thats what you get when you play around i guess. AWD is great but sometimes even awd cant compensate for a little to heavy throttle foot. Thanks for the replies and i will look into the pearlie.

only crappy thing is i would have to make all the brackets and everything for the 5 spd swap again. But that would be minor i guess in the long run of things.

Re: BAD NEWS! THE Svx took on the ditch and tree and lost

yea probably, or to be more accurate not too fast but over-corrected. **** happens. Whether i was speeding or not, that really doesnt matter now does it? The damage is done. You dont ride a motorcycle and get pissed when you wreck or get hit, its to be expected, you dont get pissed when you put the car into the wall at the track cause **** happens. No point in crying over spilt milk. As upsetting as it is, what can i do?

Re: BAD NEWS! THE Svx took on the ditch and tree and lost

nope this car has been in my possession or my family possession since new. I bought it about 8 years ago from my dad. I would love to fix it and have been looking around ttrying to find info on how to replace the fixed glass. I figure if i pull the headliner I can use body hammers and get the window channel fairly straight. It still is a nice car minus the new "body work". Huck i would love to buy the glass and trunk but i cant afford that and definitely wont be able to afford to have that stuff shipped to florida. So i will look around here for a cheap donor vehicle or make some plexi windows for now. I cant stand not driving my car. All that hard work and my dumbass had to ruin it. If anyone can point me in the direction of info on glass replacement that would be greatly appreciated. I will more than likely try to fix it due to cost factor, and the fact its still my baby.

How is the rest of the passenger door?
I'll look around for some glass here.
It sure looks repairable!

Hey svxfiles! The pass side of the car including the door is mainly superficial scratches believe it or not. The only body damage is directly below where the trunk hinge is. This is the biggest body damage other than the roof damage at the stationary glass channel. Amazingly neither of the actual moving windows were broken. The windshield is cracked however. So that will be an expensive fix if i go that route. Which i probably will. I appreciate it about the looking for the glass! Hows the claret? Still boosted?
