fuel pump
I am thinking about replacing my factory pump soon, fuel pressure is still good but my sending unit for the fuel gauge went south years ago,I adjusted my needle to cure that.My stock pump has 260,000 miles on it.I had a zex inline pump on the car also but that is no longer in use.Whats the recommended pump for a mildly modded svx, stock or walbro.

Re: fuel pump
Might try finding a stock STi fuel pump, since so so many of them are replaced by a 255lph pump. I've found they are good for 350 crank HP or so with a turbocharged engine, so if you are NA they should be good for alot more. If you are supercharged I'd hit a 255lph pump instead.

Re: fuel pump
wlbros are so cheap, why wouldn't you buy one of those if you were looking to replace the pump... Best option IMHO

Re: fuel pump
How well does the fuel pressure regulator do with the 255? I'm not a fan of over fuelpumping a car after seeing that some get a nasty idle fuel pressure rise since they can't return enough fuel.
Plus STi pumps when I last checked were just about free there was so many laying around from the STi crowd going to 255lph pumps. |

Re: fuel pump
I have had 255's in my ebony and in my current silver. It does not change anything with fuel consumption or idle. I have never experienced any ill side-effects using them

Re: fuel pump
I do agree STI pumps are pretty cheap, and I may stick with the suby brand because they last forever.I won't be boosting the car ever since its fwd. Thanks for the great info.

Re: fuel pump
You're brand loyal to a company that just out-sources the part anyway? lol
Just get the walbro. I've loved every single one of their pumps I've ever used, and don't regret ever buying one. p.s. On a smaller engine, you may overpower the regulator, but on one that's of this displacement, I don't think you'd have any issues. If you do, just get an aeromotive or something, and give yourself something else to play with!
