I have had Farmer's for many years. They have always been good to me and I have all cars, house, boat, etc with them. I think it is very important to get a good agent. If the agent is not there for the customer, you won't get very good service. I know that many are there for the company and the customer is only there for the payments.

I fourth USAA. I had a car stereo stolen one time, calculated at full retail I might get $2400. Their guy met me on a job site, looked it over, asked if I wanted to have a shop put it in or just get the check -- then they sent me a check for $4200.

edit: and I get a check back every year.

I have state farm but I might switch to USAA because it's a bit cheaper. My family knows our state farm guy really well and have been working with him for over 30 years, so I kinda am partial. They've done a really good job for us. But since I'm enlisted and will soon be going officer, USAA has been trying to get me to switch to them and they do offer really competitive rates.

I would recommend USAA if you can get them.

The service you get from your insurance company only really matters if you get in an accident. All the "nice-nice" stuff they do when you're simply paying your bill is nothing but sales. When you have a claim, you'll use your insurance and see their real service. Everything else is fulff.

State Farm is one of the two companies that is currently in court trying not to have to reveal their "game plan" that helps them steal from people with claims.

They have 2 subcategories of employees one that gets paid to lie, the other gets paid to steal!

All are sweet till you need to file a claim

I've had State Farm be ridiculous with me several times, but they were always ridiculous on the side of their insured.

Farmer's was fined recently for some pretty hefty DOI infractions and given a slap on the wrist, so whatever your beef with State Farm I wouldn't expect any justice. Most insurance companies are getting away with rampant silliness, if you ask me. I still say State Farm, on the whole, is one of the better companies to be insured with; just not so good to be claiming against as a third party, from what I've seen. Just my 2c.

I have used Geico for 10 years.

It's an insurance company. Haven't had any problems. I like the lizard.
