Fixed your quote.

People drive almost at the end of their hoods, and those with cell phones can't drive with one hand holding the phone and the other in their lap or up their nose. People need to learn to trust their peripheral vision and begin driving at least several cars ahead.

Nik, I agree. But remember, you get to laugh all the way to the bank. Plus, once you get past being p.o.'d about it, you'll save even more by not needing as much xanax. Check it: chicks hate guys that get bent in traffic.

I miss the old days when I worked at Hertz. We used to suck a gallon or two from every car in the shop and then fill our cars up on the weekends after the boss was gone.

my take on gas...

Drink a couple less beers at the bar, or a couple less sodas a week...figure 5 bucks a week saved use it for gas...thats what 60-70 gallons? we could go back to horses...lol i guess if the only problem you have with you svx is high gas prices you should feel lucky, im on my third tranny, but thats because its a car, have fun in it, its not an investment...its gna cost money to run it.

i find with a $.20- $.25 cent dfference ($3.70 - $4.62 per tank) its actually cheaper to buy the 89 or even 87 octain and spend the 2-3 bucks on octaine booster to raise it 6 octaine (when adding to a tank of 89 it give you a smooth running 95 octaine ) and its cheaper than a tank of 93, though my car seems to run fine on 89 octaine on its own, so i add the octaine booster after filling with 87 octaine. i still get about 380-400 miles per tank

if you buy octain booster by the 8 pack it averages to about $1.40 a bottle

using that instead of the 93 grade saves a good 20 bucks a month almost

200????!!! even at 15 mpg you should get 277 miles per tank

200 miles per tank is like 10-12mpg... what the hell did you do to your car?????

an 18.5 gallon tank gets 462miles at 25mpg i usually fill before im empty, i guess i average 25mpg give or take

something is seriously wrong with your car

Since most of the driving I do is back and forth to work, I don't get a chance to compare gas prices around town. Rather than getting gas where it's convenient, I usually check this before I fill up http://autos.msn.com/everyday/gassta...?zip=&src=Netx

last night i drove to melbourne, 240km+ in under 2hr, and that was over half a tank.
on the way back today, i stuck to the limit. and used 1/3rd of a tank.
notice big differences there.

yeh, im aware of speeding fines too, but still, this car holds onto the road no matter what you do.

Gas Gauge

Only that the trip won't read correctly for the gallons used.
I tried the trick about running the tank as far as I could stand, and it did make a difference on the gauge after that.

If your doing the math based on how many gallons it takes to top off,
then you can't get it wrong.
I routinely get 27 to 29 on the long haul rides, (100 miles or more) and 22 to 24 on my local rides.

But I take it real easy too. Only honk on it once in a great while, and when I do, I stay up for a bit, so as not to waist the effort.
I am going to try the Acetone though, and I do get better MPG from the high test gas also.

Just something to note, an observation I made this weekend. I drove about 60 miles out of town last night at about 66mph on cruise control. I drove back this morning same route at 80mph on cruise control.
Going 80 consumed much more fuel.

Everything else was pretty much equal.

Gas guage problem???

When my gas guage gets just below 1/4 I can get less than 12 gallons in the tank. Once I ran it empty, AAA brought me 2 gallons, I could get just over 13 in it on the fill up.

Gas Gauge

The SVX uses a Saddle gas tank. Officially, the tank holds 18.5 gallons.
In the case of only taking 13 gallons after dead empty, and adding two gallons, it sounds like maybe not the original tank.

When I fill up, I FILL UP (up in the neck). I don't do partial tanks, unless absolutely needed.

Anyway, I have run my tank as far as 356.85 miles, and when I filled back up at that point it took 15.769. This means, I should have another 2.2 gallons left. That's pretty close, but far enough for me.

After this, I notice a big change in just where my gauge sits, compared to how many gallons are in the tank when I refill. Now, when I run about 325 miles, the tank shows just now to the empty line, but based on the MPG I know I'm getting, I can go another 50 miles from then.

In any case, the gauge will almost be pointing straight down BEFORE going empty, when the gauge is reading wrong. I am not willing to put this to the test, but I know I have come pretty close. On another occasion I ran the tank to 386 miles, and took about 16.7 gallons, but I have to find the receipt to confirm that one first.

I hope this helps some.

I always assumed the tank was a 16 gallon tank since it always stops short of that on a fill up and thats with running the tank about as low is it can go many times and praying I can make it to the next station...
