Take it from someone who's been on that !@$#@ rollercoaster. It's no fun when you hit the top of one of those steep drops, and feel your stomach in your throat for a while on the way down -- then, just when you get your breath, BAM! There's a corkscrew, and you're trying to cross your legs to keep from releasing the "giant gulp" coke you had before getting on the stupid ride in the first place. Then, the thing levels out as you coast into the gate to get off, and as you walk away, you look back at the twisted track and say -- up yours! I beat ya suckah!!! I rode you and didn't puke or pee my pants.

If I wrote a book about my experiences with the SVX, and wouldn't get sued for copyright violation, I'd name it "The Agony and the Ecstacy," when she's broke, it's agony, but when she's in true form . . . . need I say more?

Hang in there Leo. If I can help in the interim, let me know.

That almost sounds as if the adjuster is totally stupid or totally crooked, as in he'll buy the car cheap for himself. I'd do what you're doing and keep my fingers crossed. You might come out of this with enough to put a turbo under the hood.

Good Luck!

Beav

if in fact he didn't inspect the car as you were told, i don't think he's stupid or a crook. if he were the latter he would have certainly checked it out for himself. i think he was just lazy or ill informed about the problem and didn't know what to do to check it out and didn't want his boss to know, so he did the easy thing with an older and odd car. after all, it isn't his money.

guys thanks so much for giving a damn. you have no idea how much it means to me. i will work this out. i will try to do this without enlisting some of you guys. but it is really nice to know you guys are willing to be there for me.

i will keep everyone posted.......
Leo, this is the first time I have seen either of these threads, and my heart goes out to you my friend. You are between a rock and a hard place.

If the conrods are not bent, there may be less to fix than you feared. Best advice I can give from a distance is re-read Beav's posts through all this. Industry standard common sense all the way.

The other advice I will offer is try not to assess the problem in an emotional fashion. Think of it as a deal, the numbers, hard cash. This way you will not throw away something of value that can be fixed for reasonable money, nor will you cling to something which will cost more than a replacement is worth.

At the end of the day it is a car, and only a car. You might even end up with enough surplus to get youself AWD, never mind the turbo Beav is on about!!

Keep your head, it will turn out all right in the end.

Rootin for ya!

Joe

PS, if you hadn't lowered it 2", the water would never have got into the intake

Leo, I hope all turns out O.K. I posted a thread to your original post " Tagedy on the leagest scale..." on 3/18 as did Beav. I wished you had gone to the shop alot sooner to find out what the status was on your car. If water did not get into your interior and if water was in fact ingested through the air cleaner with out hydro-lock; I just cannot see how your car is a total loss. Beav outlined the repairs in detail and it appears the shop has not done anything to diagnose the problem. The shop is being paid by your insurance company to inspect for damage and to repair your car if it is not a total loss, the shop has every insentive to attempt to repair your car versus totaling it since they do not getr paid much if anything on total losses. Please keep us posted. John Valos, adjuster.

Leo,
Hang in there man. I want to see you and the SVX at the meet. We have to park next to each other and show off the 94L s. Let me know if you need any help with the electronics.

You also have to keep in mind that the risk of the unknown is also factored into the adjusters decision. If they decided to go ahead and try to repair the damage then the vehicle kept coming back for more problems which were unforseen in the initial estimate the repairs could end up running much higher than writing off the vehicle. Everyone on this site is emotionally attached to their vehicle while the adjuster is not. He made a business decision based strictly on numbers, we may disagree with the decision but in his mind it was the best decision for the company $$ wise.

Keith

PS It may also work out great for Leo if he can pick up the salvage, repair the car and come out of it with some $$$ in his pocket to put towards the ever elusive twin turbos and AWS, good luck.
