Look how it goes right past me. We are going to have one hell of a low water table this year.

The view outside my window

Here it is. About 4-6" fresh snow yesterday and overnight.

Have yet to go out and drive though, but it's all probably been ruined by the Public Works gang anyway..

i want some big, big snow next week, next next week. when, expectedly, i'd get my X back from the shop this weekend to test out the fix on the AWD and to try the real quality of the AWD.
i want to drive to some mountains/hills which gave me some difficulties and see the differences this time.

Well, we had around 11" the other night, and school got cancelled, so HAH! Anyways, yesterday i thought i was stuck, but the SVX got me out. I drove into an unplowed parking lot with about 11" of snow in it. My friend tried to get his old caddy in w/o succeeding, so i had to show him up. Anyways, i kinda forgot that the parking lot ended and there was a grass field next to it. So im going along, and run off the parking lot. Try to turn around, and cant budge an inch. I told my friend to get out and push, but when he opened the door, the snow almost fell in. Eventually i got out, and went and walked the tracks. Needless to say they were pretty damn deep, not to mention i had sunk into the ground a bit. Damn, the power of AWD, thanks SVX!

Monty,

What part of the world are you in? (I assume it's cold)

I'm getting ready to head to the store, and I'm still wearing shorts.

I am about to fly south just for the weather. It's too cold again up here in IL. I can still wear shorts but I'd freeze things when I go out.

The power of ice on power lines

I picked Jean up at work this morning,(Saturday) and took her to Bob Evans for breakfast. The parking lot was FULL of huge cherry-picker trucks from Duke Power, from down near Charlotte. One of the guys confirmed that they were heading to just south of Detroit to help with huge power outages up there. One of those trucks looked like it could climb over a Hum-V with barely a bump. We have seen this sort of thing quite a few times in the 20 years we have lived here. The power companies are always sending crews to help out each other when there is a flood, hurricane, or ice storm somewhere. We had a lot of help from other states during our big floods in the 80's and 90's.

Snow is nice, but ICE is a dirty word...
