I guess as long as you can get in and out of the SVX you're not too old.

well, i'd like to prove some "older" folks wrong about something... I bought my SVX .. yeah, thats right, >>I<< bought my svx just after my 16th birthday. I've paid for insurance, gas, repairs.. yeah, stereo.. all me. Also, i'm about to turn 18.. which = 2 years of my having, and driving my SVX .. not a ticket, not an accident, no new scratches on my car in this time.. ( maybe a few door dings from the (expletive) school parking lot. but my car was by no means teh "coolest" car. it was however, by far the coolest car taht was actually paid for by a student. (can't compete with track built e30 M3s, Evos, 97 RX7 turbos, and the like... ) but yeah, i'm very proud of my car but truthfully, i don't think that its a huge deal to have an SVX when youre young.. you just can't be stupid and have an SVX when youre young.. you just can't be stupid and have ANY car especially when youre inexperienced

I am 18 and I know exactly how u feel. I bought my SVX when I was 15 and have paid for the insurance, gas, ALL the repairs (includes one rebuilt tranny, two wheel bearings, etc.), and everything else involved with maintaining a vehicle. But yea I know how you feel. My car wasn't THE coolest in high school either competing against a Roush Mustang, Porsche Boxters and the like. But it was definitely the coolest car to me and most of my friends.

No, it's just svxfiles bringing home #7 (counting mine.)

Take pics of the seven together and post! Ensteele will get a kick out of it! Who'd have thought...a family in the 'back woods' of WV having 7 SVXs!!!

Chike,

To clarify, Boxer6 (Nick, age 14) and Mr.Hoots (Dave, age 15) are svxfiles' sons and I'm the g/f mentioned by Nick and yes, we're all members here. In all fairness, only 5 are "streetworthy", the other 2 can possibly be fixed, but are serving primarily as parts cars for the other 5.

i must have missed an "older" person putting something out there for a "younger" person to PROVE wrong.

I missed the post too. I don't think there was one. I have purchased all of my cars myself (16 years old was the first one), paid insurance on all of them, maintained them, and been responsible with them too. So what is the point?

Ensteele is already halfway there. That would be a good competition. Get a notable fraction of 93's or 97's

I think what this means is that there are some other younger kids that get everything they want because their parents get it for them. This is why there are high school kids driving Porsche's, RX-7's, Roush Mustangs and the sort, b/c their parents get them everything that they want. What he is trying to say is that we're not a spoiled little brat that has a SVX just to have a SVX but that we do everything it takes to drive and maintain this car. Granted this is what you are SUPPOSSED to do, but how many teenagers do you see that are out there paying for everything that involves driving and maintaining a car??? Sorry it is just that almost everyone of my friends who has a honda or something doesn't have to pay for a single thing!! But anyway.

I understood the post by 'drivemusicnow' to mean just what you said. However, most of us "older people" on the forums were around when most parents couldn't afford to indulge their children with new cars and the like. Things have sure changed in 30 years!
