But seriously isn't it human nature to always improve, may it be in there own technique or in a design (say a car). Maybe it's just me but I want to be the best (at least at one thing).

Sure, I understand striving to improve. What eludes me is the prevailing notion of what constitutes "improvement." More power? The list of cars (trucks, SUVs, whatever) that can out-muscle an SVX is long. Speed off the line? Same goes.

This might help to explain my overall attitude: When I go to an auto show, I'll walk past 100 shimmering, immaculate, Boyd Coddington-style hot rods to see one original-condition, rough-around-the edges classic. That's simply my preference. One can build or rebuild anything, given enough money. It's the mint stocker that's hard to come by.

That's not to say I consider the SVX some untouchable classic. But it is relatively rare. And it's a very good car (in spite of its mechanical shortcomings). I'm just astonished to read of so many people taking to them with a hacksaw, and I'm trying to understand that mindset.

It really looks like your left rear wheel is from a newer model SVX.

Most of us use this car as a daily driver and like to modify it to suit or driving likes. Yeah some kid might get a hold of an SVX because he thinks it looks cool and will put some neon lights underneath it or add some stupid "GTR fighter wing". That's the nature of the beast in this country. I'm sure there are people out there storing 10k mile SVX's in their garage because stock looks so beautiful to them.

Finally went out and took a few pics of my SV.

Hey, welcome to the site. Thats a very nice looking car. I hope you enjoy it, this site, and the people on it. A mixed lot to be sure but helpful and articulate to a fault.
Do you still love looking at it when your walking away, to think to yourself how cool it is that your walking towards it to get in and drive it? I still do, and I've had mine for over 9 years and counting.
Welcome again.

Bruce

Question

Uh-oh....it looks like to me.

You have two same tires at the front. And, you have two different tires at the rear.

True?

you'll have to get used to some hatred around here, no matter what you say or do.
congrats on your svx.....DO WHATEVER YOU WANT TO IT!! its your car and if you wanna customize, go for it!!! i say pretty much there is nothing you can do to an svx to make it ugly. it will always have the same beautiful, flowing lines, whether you get a new bumper, c/f hood, different spoiler or whatever.

umm.......I have no comment on the issue at hand.....as far as I know all actions taken by the svx are of her own doing and not in any way related to me

BTW. Thank you for the welcome everyone.
