Intake?

Who has a cool air intake set-up...or a cone filter set up. i know there isnt much hp gain with anything, but does it sound any better? would i need a new MAF adapter or whatever it is?

i just took off the stock air intake resonator, and it seemed to make the car sound a lot different... even friends of mine who had only been in the car once asked me why it sounded so different.. i'd expect similar results with putting a cone in the fender, and running a tube through the hole to it (maybe making it bigger i dunno) if you used bigger pipe, i think you have to use a different MAF, but otherwise i think you're fine

I just ordered a generic "K&N" style cone filter with MAF adaptor off ebay. I doubt it will do anything for performance, if anything, but I'm also hoping it will sound a lot cooler (it worked in my taurus-sounds great). Also I'm going to make a heat sheild, so it doesn't suck any hot air in.

you dont need to buy a maf adapter specifically for an svx. im using a alluminum universal one, the holes didnt line up but a drill press took care of that. the universal only cost me 5 dollars. Im running an HKS filter. i have pics if interested, pm me

That's it! I remember purchasing a maf adapter from Autozone in the past. That was so long ago though. Keoni, do you have a part number to provide people here with so they know what part to get (or at least what part to look over to see if they like it)? That would be very helpful.... Thanks!

I just walked into autozone as well and bought a universal one. You need to do some drilling, but it still works fine.

Also, I'm a fan of motorsports warehouse and everything (just bought something there yesterday) but you can make your own intake too. It requires a bit more knowledge and tools, but it's not too hard.

Just throwing it out there, but Dayle's product is also a fabulous one and does the job very well. If you have neither the time nor the skills to fab your own, his is for sure the way to go.
