Question??

Doesn't the Privacy Act come into play when you start trying to track the individuals down?? I know we aren't allowed to give out personal info at my work. Shouldn't that apply to ISP's also? I don't like the idea of them just giving out my address and phone number. Hmmmmmm I think I going to have to look at that, may be able to make money sueing companies for all the spam e-mail I get, too. Is there really a difference between e-mail and telephone in the respect of privacy information!!!

"EARTH ANGEL" BY THE PENGUINS ON THE DUOTONE LABEL IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE FIRST OFFICIAL ROCK & ROLL SONG. IT WAS RELEASED AND PLAYED IN THE FALL OF 1954.

Huh? I never heard the birth of R & R attributed to Earth Angel, & while most will go with Haley's "Rock around the clock", I'd doubt that as well. Ever hear Haley's "Crazy man, Crazy"?
Could be the one. Then again, what does Bo Diddly have to say about this?

Ron (and the beat goes on).

I am not going to say why because if I have to, I'll end up writing books on the issue.

MPAA and RIAA need to smack each other's heads and wake up. Kind of remind me of the issues when radios and VCRs first appeared and people were making a big deal about recording the stuff off the air.

How is RIAA dealing with the new USB Sat. Radio. You can record every song that is played in digital quality (not CD -- CD sound is not compressed) in mp3 format and it will even do the ID3 Tag for you. And they said it's legal. I'll go get me a sat radio for a month and get my mp3s that way.

MORONS! Sorry. They are just being plain dumb on the issue.

If that is the case, try IRC. There are a ton of places where you can get the stuff. I am not going to tell you where but look around for "xdcc"

RIAA does not know what the hell they are doing. They are just trying to scare the living crap out of people. I don't have a problem with paying the artist money but do you actually know how much the artist gets from a CD?

As for downloading, RIAA will request a letter to your local ISP and your ISP will have to take action to what to do with your contract. Often, the scared indiviual will delete everything. But check your mac address, IPs and such. Make sure they match up if you do get a letter. If you are using Kazaalite (get one from .nl -- it's better and you get higher priority downloads using that since it sets you up as master) don't click on the supernode and also click off the sharino option. If you don't share, they can't track what's going out of your system. You can download anything. If someone knocks on your door just go get the CDs. You can legally make a copy of the media in your CD.

Finally, don't become a server if you don't want to run into the long arms of the law. Yeah it happens. Way back when I was in college, I was one of the distos for a VCD channel. We used to get stuff that were not even out in theaters yet. One of the rippers got a knock on the door from the Feds. We shut down the channel real quick and disappear real quick. He lost his computer, and was fined a huge amount. MPAA says people bring in cameras to record screeners and that is the reason why they loose money. Yeah right. We used to get pre release movies from WB, Fox etc. That's how they loose money. Inside job. They are targeting the wrong people.

I am done for now. I am off to bed.

Ron,

Bill Haley's (& the Comets) 'Rock Around the Clock' was released in 1955. They were from the Chester -Marcus Hook, PA area.
Up in NYC, we started a little bit earlier...Clyde McPhater & the Drifters. "White Christmas & Bells of St. Marys"; The (original) Flamingoes..."I'll Be Home"; The (original) Crests..."My Juanita & Sweetest One"; and last but not least, Winnie Winfield and the Harptones... "A Sunday Kind of Love."

Lwin,

I have "Earth Angel" on yellow (sorry Randy) translucent plastic.
I don't think it's vinyl. It feels like styrene.
