help-couple problems

Over the weekend my car has developed two problems. Both happen when the car is warm.
1. It has started to idle very rough. When I come to a stop it feels like it's going to stall. Putting it in neutral when i come to a stop does not make it idle any different.
2. I can hear a high pitched whistle coming from the front of the car. It reminds me of being at the dentist's office when he is drilling. Anyway I think it's coming from somewhere around the alternator.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

It could very well be your alternator going bad. An alternator producing less than desired output can sometimes cause hesitation or rough idle. I've never seen this on an SVX, but I've seen it happen with other subarus.

I assume you've solved the problem by now? If not other things to check are vacuum leaks and/or a failing power steering pump.

yep, It was a vacuum leak. The bolts that hold together the intake manifold were loose.
