Bike Rack Success!

After checking out many vendor web sites, I dropped in my local bike shop. I told him what I had and what I wanted. I suggested that we try a Thule Easy Rider. He said he loved Thule but he proposed the Saris Bones Model #805 (s2). He said it was more robust that the Thule and about same price ($109); it was actually $20 cheaper. We did a test fit in his parking lot yesterady and it seemd "possible".

I fitter this morning and IT WORKS. I will use a few foan pads to protect spoiler fron the straps and possible bad bounce, but I am confident that it will do the trick. It is a 2 bike rack only. I think the make a Bones s3 but I would not try it.

If you have an early black top car and your body and paint is not perfect this rack is really good. If you have a perfect later one color car; I would not risk my paint job. I'll use mine on my '92 Pearl but never on my '94 Bordeaux.

Post some pictures after you get it installed with bikes. It would be good to see how it looks and works. Thanks

will do

Earl
That is my plan. My current digital camera su@@s. I have a new one on the way and will post in about a week. Mounting is not like any of manufacturer's suggestions; the two lower feet mount against the license plate not the bumper!

Pics in a week or so.

Ken,

Try cheap, kitchen, 'nylonge' sponges from the Dollar store in place of foam rubber. I find it hard to picture you on a bike touring the upstate New York wineries.

Ken,

If I sit on a bicycle, the frame will collapse unless its made from 8" wide flanges.
