taking the axel apart

does anyone have a how to or a diagram of the axel of how to take it apart?
not like removing the pin off the diff but actually taking the boot apart and everything.

The issue is, is that the axel pin is pretty much fused into place so i need to take the axel apart to drop the tranny and then drill out the pin

Please do not use fire under the fuel lines.
You can remove the axle without removing the pin.

Make sure you are hitting the pin the correct way. It only goes in/out one way. You probably know this but just making sure

Re: taking the axel apart

hitting it out is a past issue, it mushroomed on the the ends and then attempted to drill it out and was working till the bit broke off inside

Re: taking the axel apart

Is the trans an Auto? If you didn't call SVXfiles like he suggested??

What I assume he was going to tell you is that if you pry it out, the stub that is stuck in the axle will pop out of the trans. They act much like how the rear axle's pop out from the rear diff. Once you get the trans out, you can remove the axle from the car and get it on a workbench to properly drill out the pin. The stub can then be popped right back in with a deadblow or a hammer and 2X4.

This, my Friend, is exactly what we discussed, when He did call this afternoon.
