Update: It hasn't did it since the first time it did it so i'm going on the guess that the oil drained out of the motor and when I started it, it had to relubricate the motor.

Sounds to me like a valve issue. I'd run some valve medic through there or maybe add some risoline to your next oil change. It is like crack for aging subarus. They'll tick for it!
Its the only snake oil I'll use! Other thing from your detailed description I would think it might have been was a injector. I had one that sounded like a freight train after a start up from winter storage a few years back.
