Most leaks in the steering system are somewhere besides the rack. Although I've never had it, the most common problem is an O-ring between the reservoir and the pump. I've experienced leaks in both the high pressure line that leads from the pump to the rack and the low pressure line from the rack back to the pump.

The high pressure line can be rebuilt at your local hydraulic hose shop. The low pressure hose can be replaced with 3/8" ATF line.
