Voltage to Fuel Pump?

Me and Ben are having some issues with the racer. Sporadically the fuel delivery will dry up...

Measuring voltage between the Bk and Blue he is getting 3.7 volts. Does the pump get a variable voltage? What range should it be in with the key turned to start it? Did I tell him to measure the correct wires?

Between Bk and Green White he is measuring 8.5v
Between Bk and Green Yellow and Bk and Orange he is getting 3.7v with the opposite polarity of the Bk/Blue.

Hi Dave, the pump does get a varied voltage, I think it is controlled by the ECU through the throttle position. The Blue wire feeds voltage to the pump, the other Black wire is the earth, it is run through the pump modulator, that switches a resistance into the circuit to reduce the output, to reduce the flow when it is not needed.

Since it is a race only car, you could remove the Black wire from the pump, to take the modulator out of the circuit, and fit an direct earth wire from the pump to a good earth. This will keep the pump running at max all the time. Won't affect anything, for your use.

Harvey.
