another wiper problem

I got my windsheid replaced last summer because of a crack (caused by something flying out of the back of a pickup truck..grr) and ever since then when i'm using them when they sweep up the drivers side one goes a little too far. The blade actually goes off the window like an inch and makes a loud racket every time it swipes. I"m thinking that they just didn't put the wipers back on the right notches. I'm going to take it apart this weekend and look at it. Anyone got any suggestions?

Aside from that i have a funny story about the car shop that replaced it. I took it to carstar (autobody shop cause i was getting some paintwork done as well) and when i took it in i told him just to save himself some time and order the glass from subaru. It will be just over $1000 (insurance was paying so i didn't really care) and it will take a few weeks to order. Well Mike just scoffs at me and says that he has contacts all over the country and that he is willing to bet that he can find one that will work on my car for a few hundred. I take the bet (just a gentlemans bet lol) and I ask him how much time he needs. He tells me to check back at the end of the week (it was monday).

Well thursday i get a call from him at work. The first words out of his mouth are "you win". I laugh and ask him if he found anything at all. He said that he did. There was one other glass company that makes one for our cars called National Glass but they wanted $3200 for the glass by itself lol. He said that he called the subaru dealership already and placed the order for the glass and it will be $1100 and they should have it by tuesday lol

Good story

And I had pretty much the same story... It was with a local NAGCO Glass shop... The guy at the store just kept shaking his head and said that he'd seen plenty of SVX's on the road and couldn't believe that the glass was 3500.....(from his company) and that it would still cost 1000 from the dealer...

I would say that moving the wiper a couple notches will do the trick.

Adjust the wiper travel so that the wipers rest properly in the stops when fully down. I painted my wiper arms recently and it took a bit of tinkering to get them repositioned properly.

I've painted 3 sets of SVX wiper arms, front and back, and I use this little trick to keep track of their positions: before you do anything, put a small piece of masking tape on the glass just below the wiper blade (this only works if your front blades are resting on the windshield and not below it). Now take your wiper arms off and paint them. After they dry, mount the arm so that the blade is resting just above the masking tape. Now you can remove the tape and your wipers will work fine without needing to be adjusted!

Wow. They must have one of the last cheap aftermarket windshields. I thought those were all gone.
