Enough already! Your precious Yankees LOST and dumping on the Red Sox isn't going to change that fact, so get over it.

DWayne,

We are not dumping on the Sox. We are discussing baseball.
If you want me to dump on the Red Sox , ok here goes.

"I view the Sox and Yanks as 2 sides of the same coin. The Yanks are heads and the Sox are tails. Unfortunately, the coin has been coming up heads since 1918."

Or I could send you the application form for a Red Sox fan to become a Yankee fan.

DWayne,

The reason that I am such a big Yankee fan is that when their season is over, the only teams left for me to root for are, the Giants, the Rangers and 'shudder' the Knicks.

No one is crapping on the Sux I mean sox, but we are just talking about what is going on in the MLB now. I am just saying that with dumping Grady Little they have to start all over ...again. You should look into the Boss' fan transfer form

Yankee Fan Application

No, thanks...Enduring the Sox losing is still better than enduring Steinbrenner. You guys can have him.
And as long as we're just 'discussing baseball' and not dumping,
may I offer the following?:
a) Firing Little was not a bonehead move. His letting Martinez make the decision to stay in game 7 not only cost Boston the game, the Pennant, and possibly the Series, it was yet another example of how Little coddled his players to the point of letting them manage him rather than the other way around. Any time that happens, it's time for a change.
b) Let me get this straight...you vilify Boone and adore Petitte, yet wasn't it Boone who homered to win game 7 against the Sox and wasn't it Petitte who threw to the wrong base in the final game against Miami?

Dwayne,

I don't "vilify" Boone. He was brought to the Yankees for his glove not his bat. He made 5 errors during the playoffs. That is nor "gold glove" caliber. He also did not make fielding plays that were ruled hits, that I think he should have made. He is not as good with his glove as Brooks Robinson, Mike Schmidt, Clete Boyer, or Elston Howard. He had 2 big home runs. The one that you mentioned against the Red Sox and also one against the Marlins. However, in general, he looked almost as bad as Soriano at the plate.

I don't "glorify" Pettitte. He did throw to the wrong base. However, thanks to Fox's rotten camera work and McCarvers lack of bringing us the facts, we will never know if Boone was covering third base, like he should have, or was out of position.
In support of Pettitte, I'll say that he was the "stopper" when the Yankees needed one. He is not a Sandy Koufax. H*ll he isn't even a Clemens or a Martinez; but he is a competitor who tries to rise to the occasion. In that respect, he is alot like Paul O'Niel and Tino Martinez. Those two guys were not the best players at their positions, but they rose to the occasion. They had "heart". That's something the Yankees now lack. In the old days we used to call it character. Winston Churchill had it. Rudy Giuliani showed it. Pettitte has it. Boone, Sorriano, & Martinez do not.

This is getting almost as bad as a Neon vs SVX debate.

as a yankee fan-atic but more importantly a baseball FAN I would like to see more competiton and equality throughout the league...
but and it is a big but...
all of you George Steinbrenner haters out there should just realize he uses his own $$ to improve the team...
he also pays a large chunk of $$ in luxury tax to MLB to give out to other teams who in turn put that $$ in their own pockets instead of turning around and using it to get better players...

for example the NY Mets (My Entire Team Sucks---More Errors Than Singles) claim to not be able to afford Alex Rodriguez 3-4 years ago...what BS...they had $$ to sign MO effin Vaughn and Jeromy Bernitz and others for much more $ than A rod was asking from them..

and no matter what propaganda teams put out there, not one owner is REALLY losing $$ --if they were they would have gladly opened their books for review the last time they were investigated by Congress during the lockout/strike recently...

the more I think about this the more I like ProWrestling..

Posada could also have been yelling "two! two!" I caught throughout my lifetime and still catch for a fall league, i was an all league player in high school, and it is in fact the catchers duty to tell the infielders who's ball it is and where to put it. Pitchers are dumb, they just do what they're told. Sure they shake pitches off, but have you ever seen Bull Durham when he shakes him off? LOL (Similar experience happened to me this summer, the kid dropped a bizomb) As far as Boone, he has been a disappointment. Trading Claussen for him was a bad move by Cashman I think, but who am I to judge. Steinbrenner is in it to win, why would you compete if you weren't in it to win? The Yankees aren't just gonna LET other teams be in contention just because they've been nasty for so long, it's not just "Oh, the Red Sox need one this year lets just not show up for the game" The players show up ready to play every game. The performance isnt always there, but the mentality is.
