Question SVX stereo to WRX 6 disc changer

I bought a WRX 2002 6 disc changer to replace my dead CD player. It's double din and will fit just great ... however I need a reverse Harness for the thing.... Does anyone have any ideas. SOA (through my various dealers here in Salt Lake) doesn't have any adapters for this evolution.....

Yeah but........ really I think I have one orderd through a place here called car concepts... but I'm almost certian that the thing they ordered is wrong....(I just don't trust anyone anymore...) Does anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram for the plug of a WRX 6 disc changer.... (the dealers say they don't have it.. )

Smile WRX Radio into a SVX

SVX Radio
Hmm, I am installing a WRX 6 disc CD/Radio with subwoofer in my SVX. I hate switching CD's all the time. Got the idea from alex_umn, he has pictures of it already installed in his personal locker. Got the SVX connecter from SVXdc down in Georgia to interface with the main wiring harness of the SVX. The connector to plug into the radio head unit I got From Scosche, the aftermarket accessory for car stereos. If anyone else wants to do it here are the links:

http://www.scosche.com/scosche/connectors/SU03R.asp

the link to scosche will be take you to the actual connector you will need.

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...wiring+harness

Thanks again Dave, I would have to have cut my wires if it were not for your harness!

Good Luck!

P.S. The connector from Scosche that goes into the back of the radio fits! The wires has a fine print on them that tell you what wires go to where, they also correspond to the harness that I got from Dave.

awdsvx discovered (and posted in this other thread) that Scosche's reverse harness lacks the orange/white illumination wire; it only has the plain orange wire. The 2002 WRX changer needs both for the illumination to work correctly.

awdsvx bought a second Scosche reverse harness and transplanted its orange wire into the empty slot on his first reverse harness.

Before doing that, I'd suggest checking for harnesses made by the other manufacturers, Metra and American International, to see if they have reverse WRX harnesses with both orange wires (14 wires total).

[Update: None of them does, currently. I'm going to start making some in limited quantities, and will continue making them if there's enough demand or until one of the harness manufacturers makes one with all 14 wires. Watch the "Wanted or For Sale" forum for details.]

The pinout for the 2002 WRX harness is here: [Deleted; see edit below]. Note that even though pin 14 is shown as a "no connection," the WRX radio actually provides the amplifier remote power-on signal on that pin (which the SVX can use for the power antenna -- it will extend any time the WRX radio is on, even if you're listening to CDs). The WRX itself has neither a power antenna or an external amplifier, so this pin has no connection in the car itself.

[Correction- it's the power antenna control, not amplifier power-on; see the reply below]

[Another correction- Recent model WRX's now have an antenna amplifier under the rear deck because they only have a foil antenna on the rear window; so they do now use pin 14]

[Yet another edit: I created a better pin-out for the WRX harness. All Subarus from 1993-up except the SVX use this same pin-out]

WRX Radio

I just wanted to add to this topic about the aftermarket harness for the WRX radio. Metra does not make a reverse connector, I have called them personally, only Scosche (SU03RB) makes a reverse connector for the WRX radio. About the power antenna lead. I have noticed while switching from listening to radio to CD's that the power antenna goes down when I listen to a CD and goes back up when I switch back to listening to the radio. And the green illumination screen on the LCD panel is always constant even during while the lights are turned off during the day. I thought I wired something wrong. I had to go to a SUbaru dealer and looked at a Forester radio to see if I had it wired correct. The current Forester's radio is the same execpt, the radio in the Forester comes with a Weather Band stations. Other than that, it is the same radio as the WRX

Thanks for the correction, awdsvx. As you might guess, I've not actually had my hands on a WRX radio; just going by bits and pieces that I've read elsewhere.

The WRX has sold in sufficient numbers, (and thus, perhaps WRX factory radios are being installed in other vehicles) that the other harness manufacturers may start making a reverse WRX version, or Scosche may get a clue and add the orange/white wire. "It could happen"

The DEED is done!!

And it works great. I took a couple of pictures that might help someone else with this particular evolution... with the two Harnesses from Dave it was a walk in the park!!

Thanks for everyone in this thread Especially SVXDC and AWDSVX

Earl wasn't a lot of help .... but I appreaciate his humor..
