Cracked screw holes in arm rests

Upon becoming very annoyed over my rattly interior, I decided to randomly tighten up screws. Unfortunately, I over tightened the screws in the arm rests, which has cracked a few of the holes. Now the doors rattle like my roommate's 75 Dodge truck.

I was thinking it may be a good idea to find some sort of large rubber washers to go under the screws and over the cracked holes, such that the screws will be able to hold the rests firmly in place without causing anymore damage. What do you guys think? Is this the best way?

I swear, this car is starting to piss me off with all these freaking rattles. This weekend, I'm going to rip stuff apart and go nuts with a can of silicon spray. I don't care if I break things. Otherwise, I feel I may loose my temper and take a baseball bat to the f@cker.

Please excuse my hostility.
