Question Steering Wheel Tilt Lever

Hi there,

Picked up my first ever SVX from Penrith (Sydney) on Saturday. Pearl white / black, '92, 168k, very clean with full history. Couple of small issues I'm trying to correct - one being that I can't get the steering wheel tilt lever to click into a spot between extreme low position to extreme high. It locks perfectly as it should in these two positions, but there's no hint of any locking points in between (I'm assuming there is supposed to be). Anyone had this problem, or know of a solution?

Telescopic lever works fine.

Cheers,
Grant

Re: Steering Wheel Tilt Lever

That switch is working normally. There is a hidden lever in the center of the bottom side of the wheel that allows you to adjust the tilt level. The one on the side of the wheel is to raise the wheel all the way to aid in getting in and out of the car.

Re: Steering Wheel Tilt Lever

Congrats!

Glad you didn't get the charcoal one. Did you see the shocking service history on it?

And now are you wondering how I know you enquired about it as well?

As for steering tilt, it took me a day to figure out as well.

So are we going to have an SVX tinkering day now?

Re: Steering Wheel Tilt Lever

Thanks, guys! Found it ...... and am in a much better driving position!

I'd love to do an SVX meet sometime - I'm in Maitland, very close to "BRADY".

Now, "flamestone", how did you know I enquired about the charcoal one? Quite a few dents and scrapes on that one!

Thanks for your help guys,
Grant

Re: Steering Wheel Tilt Lever

Well I'm just down the road from you.

As for that charcoal one, I laughed out loud when the guy told me it had good service history... it'd been serviced barely once a year for most of it's life, then went 3 years and 20000kms without a service around 2003.

How is that "good"?!?

And you won't like the answer to how I know... in an appalling violation of your privacy, when I enquired not long after you, he took the email he sent you, and just forwarded it to me... I recognised your name from here.

Yeh, so much for privacy.

Wouldn't like to see what he called a "poor" history ........

I was also very tempted on the ruby / black SVX at Newcastle for $6900. Seemed a really nice guy, but I just felt I had to go with the Penrith car as it had half the kms.

Re: Steering Wheel Tilt Lever

Ha! I had the same problem when I got my first SVX (....how on earth do you adjust the wheel properly????)

I finally gave up and read the manual!!

So....when will we see some pictures of your SVX?

Jason.
