Falkin Ziex ZE-912 vs Kuhmo Ecsta ASX

I recently purchased the Falkins to replace my Kuhmos and I'm not all that impressed. The salesman got me to switch over their 40k warranty vs the Kuhmo's 30k as well as assuring me "it's a better tire." Now I'm having buyers remorse. I only have two days left to return them so I've got to make up my mind pretty quick. If I return them I'm out almost $100 sales tax for both sets. What do you folks think? I know that neither is a great tire (you get what you pay for) but for an all purpose tire I thought the Kuhmo did pretty well. Anyone else have a suggestion for me?

Buying parts is like car payments. Someday she'll be all mine.

If you don't like them you should return them. Did you buy them locally or online? For cheap tires, I am a big fan of General. I have used Michelin almost exclusively for my summer tires. But for the Tribeca, the tires were going to be insanely expensive. So I looked at the alternatives and the track data and user ratings for the General tires were impressive so I gave them a shot. I have been very happy with them. I bought them on treadepot.com.

If you return them, I would think that the taxes can be refunded as well.

I would suggest that you go talk to a manager and hammer out something you consider fair. They actually have a lot of options... Good luck!

What company?

Return them ASAP, get what you like. Personally, I am a fan of Michelin products, think it is difficult to beat the Pilot Sport PS2. They are expensive but I have had such good luck with Michelin's - 85,000 miles on my truck tires and my winter snow tires for the SVX (Pilot Alpin PA2) that I am sold.

Re: Falkin Ziex ZE-912 vs Kuhmo Ecsta ASX

Just dropped her off for a new set of shoes. I'm going back to the Kuhmos, free of charge. I've bought all my tires from Discount Tire Co (or American Tire Co here in CA) since I was 16. No questions asked they're swapping them out and spotting me the whole whopping $8 difference between sets.

They did have a special on a set of Goodyear Eagle F-1 that only had 80mi on them. It would've only been a $75 step up from now, but they don't have the warranty or replacement guarantee because they were used (some lady bought them and decided a week later that she wanted 18"s).

I'm going to stick with what I know for now. Thanks for the input guys.
