Throttle body coolant bypass mod ??

Just came across a How-To regarding bypassing the coolant path through the throttle body. What does this mod do? It looks fairly easy im just curious if theres some performance or reliability gain from doing so.

Re: Throttle body coolant bypass mod ??

It keeps the throttle bodies cool by bypassing the coolant that goes through it. Also do not do this mod in the winter because it can freeze the butterflys in the throttle bodies.

I have had this mod done for years, it is pointless.

I have driven in the dead of winter with it on the open highway at a high speed and yes, it did stick open for a second or two on one rare occasion. There is still enough heat to dissipate any ice within moments, even with TB spacers.

Your results may vary, but probably won't.

Re: Throttle body coolant bypass mod ??

it is not recommended because your air needs to be at the proper temperature to allow for complete fuel vaporization... colder air is not necessarily better air
