0w-30?

I see Mobil-1 makes 0W-30 now. It claims to be useable instead of 5W or 10w...

What do we think?

I think it will leak out like water when cold.

Are you trying to say I should change my valve cover gaskets?

Ya....I've been meaning to do that...
It already leaks with 10w-30 in there.

If it doesn't leak would it be ok for the engine?

I wouldn't use it, the owners manual recommends 5w-30 if the ambient temperature is below 32F, but it says "not recommended for sustained highway driving", stick with the manufacturer's recommended oil, you run the risk of damaging the engine.

For what it's worth, LAN is using it on the engine he rebuilt and has put 1300 miles on so far. Check his engine thread.

I put it in my truck at 1000 miles. I sold the truck after 8 years with 225,000 miles. I never had a single engine related issue, it ran like new, no leaks. It flows really well, especially at low temps like when I ski. If you look at it pouring compared to a normal weight, it always appeared to me it would reach the farthest parts of the engine first, especially if they are small areas. There are a number of nice cars recommending its use, such as Porsches and Ferraris and such. It also never seemed to sludge up, it would get very dark, but always seemed to have the same viscocity. At times I went 7500 miles between changes, but that was in a month and a half. Otherwise, it was 3k-5k or 3 months. If the engine is prone to leaking, this oil will not help...
