Didn't the 92 and 93's have the tranny cooling issues? which led to more tranny failures compared to the newer 94's and up?? If this guy is looking to buy an unmodded car, I think he should look at that as one reason.

I think mileage and upkeep have way more to do with the quality of an SVX than model year. And in my view a modded SVX has probably been "rode hard and put-up wet" and thus is likely to be tired and trouble-prone. Not a popular opinion in these parts, but worth considering when shopping around.

I'd have to agree with that too.

The more I think and read about it, the tranny issues (whether better or worse) year to year don't bother me - I just plan on it going "whenever."

And yes, it'd be a swap candidate.

Dunno if I'd want to mod the heck out of it, but the tranny's got to go no matter what year, IMHO.

So I'm really just looking for a good body, engine, and interior - good upkeep.

Mileage I can toss around.

If it still has the auto... yes

The Mt's are much less troublesome as their simplicity rules over the complex auto slushbox. Engines in the SVX have treated me well and hold up to a lot of abuse. Mileage on an engine is not such a concern for me. that why I replace everything else with low mileage parts from higher powered vehicles

Overall the SVX is a pleasure once you scrap that slushbox. it makes life so much easier and maint takes a dive as your are not always fixing the trans

Why would you have one on your 92? The anniversary edition SVX is the red 93's...thats what makes them special. Ask earl whats so special about em he has a few
