Salt??

Ok maybe this is a stupid question, but being that Im in Rochester,NY I figured it might be worth a shot... I hate salt and I hate paying every two days at the car wash to clean it off to keep my car looking nice. Is there any kinda coating or wax type something that would keep the salt from building up as quickly or something along those lines?

put some Meguiar's NXT Tech wax (its actually more of a sealant) on and let it sit overnight to "cure". buff it off the next day.

a quick blast with a hose or at the "pay n' spray" will keep it looking good when it starts to get mucked up again.

Yeah, washing and waxing is good, but salt on the finish is the LEAST of your worries. What kills cars is the salty muck that builds-up inside the wheel wells, rocker panels, doors and the like. My Suby GL was so rotten after three Vermont winters that it couldn't even be jacked-up from the rear jackpoints. The rust came from the inside-out; all the wax in the world won't stop that.

The best you can do is frequently pressure-wash the undercarriage. I heard about folks in Vermont who had their cars "undercoated" with some sort of oil spray every fall when they mounted snow tires, but I have no experience with that.
