I'm also thinking about a used '02 bugeye WRX which I can keep relatively stock (b/c of the weak trans) and just compete with it in D-stock - this way I'll stay in the subaru family.

Ummm.. The XT weighs in about 3k. For 145hp and a VERY front heavy car that's more than a standard 2.5 legacy wagon power to weight wise.

Quite reliable? Are you talking about the 3000? You must have some good crack down there as they have more issues with their trannies than the SVX every could!

I still don't understand why you'd sell one perfectly nice car to buy another. BTW I may have an ebony wing in the next couple of days so if you do find one w/o one it can be yours.

I hear ya Ben, but I'd only consider a 6spd VR-4 which has the stronger trans.

Either way, enough of this mitsu talk, it doesn't look like it'll happen as Collin accepted my offer. It looks like I'll be picking up his 125K Polo Green '95!

-Chike

P.S. With some of the mods I plan on doing, an OBDI car was the only option as there's no secondary O2 sensor to worry about. It will also allow me to get the stage 2v5 immediately!

300tt

I just got a line on a 300ZX-TT. Like new(i.e. less then 10K miles), I'd estimate over 8G's in aftermarket. (turbo's, intake, exhaust up-pipe, down pipe, ect). Owned by a doctor and newer seen rain.

I'll cost you though, he's asking $25,000 from what I understand. It's somewhere in Cape May county.

That would have been way out of my price range.

Either way, I'm very happy with Collin's car. I ideally wanted a '95 L in Laguna Blue or Polo Green. Because of the offer I gave him, I won't have 8K to drop into the car immediately (closer to 5K) but his car already comes with a stebro, konis, and a major service at 100K miles (timming belt, knock sensors, seals, etc).

All I'd need to focus on would be the 5spd swap, cams, and stage 2v5.

No issues with the '96 at all - just ask anyone who's driven it or seen it in person. I just want to do a 5mt swap into an OBDI SVX - pure and simple.

-Chike

P.S. Why did you end up selling your '97? You just wanted something different perhaps...even though you've since admitted to wanting to own another someday.

Only thing wrong with it is the driver!!! He'll do the 5 speed and then sell it in 6 months just like everybody who does it seems to do.

Ha ha ha! Well I'll be paying TomsSVX good $$$ to have the 5spd swap done. So I'll do with it as I please.

Seriously, I plan on keeping it through the '06 autox & drag season and then decide what the '07 season holds!

ah, so you gave up on waiting for the ECUTune for the OBDII.

did want something different, and something that was easily modded to performance levels i wanted, without breaking the bank.

still love teh SVX, but i really don't have the time or energy to own another one. hell, i don't have the time or energy to even look for one i'd want to buy!

Yup. And also there's less emission stuff to contend with on an OBDI car. My buyer is happy with his selection (as it'll fit his performance needs) and I'm happy with mine.

Collin has owned the car since 58K miles and has done all the maintenance on the car. I'm not worried about picking up his 125-130K car as I know it'll easily go another 100K-150K no problem. The same is true for my car as I'm anal about maintenance and keeping it in top running condition.

same here with maintenance and detailing - that's why after years of saying, "i'll nevAr buy a new car!", i bought two new ones in three years. its nice knowing how the car was driven and maintained from day 1.

Mrs. Shark's WRX looks as good (or better) as the day it rolled out of the showroom. i can't understand how she hasn't got the front end all pock-marked up with paint chips. i think i have more on the LGT.

is the '06 WRX still in your future after you wear out your next SVX with trips to Home Depot after the new house?

Agreed. I saw this pic in your locker (I realize your's is the only one with a front license plate) and you can really see the difference compared to the teal in the picture.

Nope - no '06 WRX. I'll either wait for the next generation Impreza platform to come out, or I'll move on to a completely different brand such as Porsche (love the 993 Carrera 4 and 4S) or even go back to owning another Japanese supercar (RX-7, Supra TT, 300ZX TT or VR-4).

Btw, my wife and I aren't buying a new house, just re-financing our current one we bought this past May. In just 6 months, the market value on our home has gone up 15K.
