Arrow Timing Belt Change Interval

When is the timing belt supposed to be changed in an SVX. For example, 6 years or 80k miles whichever comes first. Also, what other parts do you replace when doing the belt. Water Pump, cam seals, crank seals, etc. What belt should one use, original subaru, Napa, etc.

Is the maintenance interval Subaru recommends for engine oil changes truly 7,500 miles?

Hmm, it says to check the wheelbearing lubricant at 60,000 miles.

Is that were we could be going wrong?

You should be able to go 100k miles before changing the t-belt. Water pump (incl gasket), thermostat, cam seals, and crank seal are all good to replace while you've got the front of the engine apart. Oil pump shouldn't need replacing. Inspect all the t-belt idlers and replace if the bearings in any appear to be worn. This would also be a good time to flush the entire cooling system and replace with fresh coolant. New radiator hoses would be a good idea too. If you have a leaky power steering system, this would also be a good time to replace any leaky PS hoses and gaskets (because you'll probably have the radiator out and this makes it easier to get access to the hoses).

Read you're manual there boy (or sorry forgot you were from the sticks... Have it read to ya) It goes something like this 7500 miles for the oil change unless you drive 1. Short distances, 2. In congested traffic or through traffic lights, 3. On dusty roads. Which unless you live in the midwest sticks and only drive on the highway I think that pretty much covers everybody here then you should change it every 3750. I know this has been Subaru's recommendation at least through the EA-81 engine series (early 80s) and probably even earlier.

You need to change your oil more often so that you can oil the road out in front of your house so it isn't as dusty.
