Suspension woes continue

Ok i have been having this problem since may of this year. In may i got my brakes checked and when i left the shop i had this horrible feeling from the left front wheel. Felt like the wheel was loose or something...took it back to the shop and they said everything was on tight. The terrible clunk noise and feeling went away after a week. Then after hitting a pothole in August it returned but went away with in one day. Ive described it as feeling like the wheel is hitting my leg while my left foot is resting. It happens when i hit a pothole awkwardly and usually goes away after a day. Last week i hit a pothole again and that stupid feeling came back and hasnt gone away...its been a week now and hasnt gone away although it was gotten better each day. The weird part is that the ride feels great except for that damn noise...ride feels 10 times better tho when the noise goes away. Sometimes i can hit a big pothole and it wont even make the noise....but will make it over a small hump in the road or over a series of cracks in the road. I'm thinking this is a bad or worn bushing. I also need to get wheel alignment done...car pulls a tiny tiny bit to the right. I dont think that has anything to do with this as the alignment issue was never there when this problem started. Anyone ever have these problems im describing? I just find it strange that it goes away after a little bit. Thanks in advance.

My mom had the struts and mounts go bad in her toyota camry after 30 K...so i know what that sounds and feels like. This is nowhere near that noise. And the noise in the camry was very consistent and was there 24/7...this goes away after a while.

first and easiest is to look at the sway bar bushings to see if they are going bad

I'm not 100%, but I think you just need daylight...crank the wheel all the way to one side. The bushing is located just where the front inner fender well hits the subframe.

Lee is correct. You can see the front sway bar bushings without taking off the wheels.

Here's a pic I took over the summer when painting my calipers:

And here's a close-up showing the bushing in that pic:

My wheel is off in that pic, but from getting a general idea of where it's located, once you turn your wheels all the way to one side, you'll now know what to look for.

You're a lucky man Tom. Glad the problem went away but still check the condition of your sway bar bushings when you get the chance...

Happy New Year!

So if you didn't do anything to fix it that means the problem is guaranteed to return and will continue to come and go until it's fixed.

Yea David that pretty much sums it up. I have been trying to avoid potholes for the life of me just so that it wont come back. My suspension feels brand spankin new right now for some reason. Always felt like that really...which is why i never thought it could be struts or mounts. Hopefully i can get under the car sometime soon to inspect the bushings.
