Well I have an update. Took it to my Sube mechanic and he says I have "an ECS SBF2 Fusable Link" short. Whenever he replaces the fuse, it blows right off. Guess there's a short on one of the systems related to that part of the wiring...fuel filter, etc. I have had the interior out like 3 times in the last month for audio equipment installation, so it could be something there, or who knows. Now I'm looking at mucho $ if I want to have someone trace down the short.

Suggestion - disconnect the + power cable you added (I'm guessing) for your audio equipment and then see if you still blow the fusable link. This should get the car back up and running so you can take your time tracing down the short on your own (okay, so you won't have pumping tunes for a while....). What exactly did you add for your audio set up? A big capacitor? A big amp? Either one of these could be the source of the short...
Good luck!

I actually do have some caps and multiple amps. Quite a lot of equipment is pulling from the battery, so I'm exploring disco'ing that to see if the problem persists. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks Beav, now I can troubleshoot more effectively without having to pay the Sube dude $75 an hour.

Good news I guess. We found the short location. When the pedal box was put in for the clutch, an area of the assembly was cutting through the wires up under the dash related to clutch action. Guess I need to have a chat with the tranny shop. Back on the road to recovery.

speaking as an mecp certified tech iam positive that
having multiple amps and capacitors doesnt cause a short circut as long as they are wired directly to the batery or a distribution block fed by the batery in parelel. which has to be true because caps hooked up in series explode(very messy) and an amp wired in series on the power input side would blow your amp

The question was only directed toward the wiring going to the caps, amps, etc. and the possibility that they might have had a "nick" in them, thus shorting to ground.
