ok man, cool down, ok that was the problem, the gaskets. anyway I am happy the sputtering is over...

This lean mixture causes roughness at low RPM. However, as the RPM's increase, the air/fuel mixture is enrichened to the point where the small intake leak is not enough to lean it out. So the engine runs smooth. That's my guess, anyway.

Gee Dave thats a bloody good diagnoises for a 'Spare Parts Assistant'. you should move into the workshop.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys....I appreciate the nice comments

I wasn't trying to "win" anything though....just having a friendly disagreement. If I came across as trying to be Mr. Know-it-all I apologize. Sometimes my sarcastic behavior gets the better of me.

so at the end it was a cam sensor... neither a weak valve nor the gaskets... and as Dave said it was a friendly disagreement.. I wonder I didn't have any symptoms since the thing I did with the engine, but maybe in the future I will experience the same phenomena... and Rocket, let me tell you something, I do not consider myself as a mechanical expert, I know a great deal of everyday's mechanical symptoms, but I do not consider myself as a mechanical engineer. maybe an SVX certified plastic surgeon... still though, I am proud of my knowledge...

I guessed gaskets because he said his check engine light was not on. Assuming his check engine light was working, the lack of a light would rule out an electrical problem. So his case is truly strange....a bad sensor but no check engine light.

Weird!
