future nwsvx meets (mini or otherwise)

after last night's very successful and very well-attended meet @ the triple xxx, i was wondering what kind of future meets others may have in mind / would like to attend / are being planned.

would also love to hear from those who have never attended a meet, seldom attend a meet or are out of the puget sound area.

if you have an idea for a future meet, or a wish for a particular kind, list 'em here. (just to amuse me, if for no other reason)

Future Meets

As you know, I am new to this, but I have to say, I think a meet over to Leavenworth would be fun! I know that they close Stevens Pass at some point, but we could also go around through Snoqualmie. This would be fun in the winter. I don't know, it is just an idea!

Years ago, I went to a restaurant in Olympia, on the water (if memory serves, near the boardwalk) called the Bud Bay Cafe. This is a cool spot that serves seafood and has a really cool atmosphere, a little bit of a nicer place. This might be a fun summer road trip/meet location. It would be a bit of a haul. It might be fun to meet up somewhere Seattle/Bellevue-ish and drive down together-

Anyhow, a couple of wacky ideas!

4. Olympia - Bud Bay Cafe

Instead of driving the highways, you need to plan an alternate route full of twisties and nearly abandoned stretches of road (so we can go FAST).

Steven's Pass stays open. The North Cascades closes after the snow starts to pile up.

And yes, it does get adictive.

actually, no. pls don't let that limit your imagination. remember, i included "out of the puget sound area". the puget sound area is not the center of the known universe. i would love to know the wishes and creative ideas from the inland empire, the orygun territory and the great nation to the north.

How many memners do we have in seattle Vs. all of Oregon?

Maybe we could do a halfway meet - Like in Portland/Vancouver/Centrailia?

a meet half way would be cool, just suggest a place and a time, you might get a half dozen from Seattle.

It seems we get fairly good attendence w/ almost no notice.

A meet in Astoria would be cool too.

This same reasoning goes for folks in Spokane and Idaho too, name a place and a time. You will know pretty quickly what the interest will be.

Go for it Dude!

If you plan it, they will come... Well, not guaranteed, but with a little notice and an appealing location you can probably get a small band of Puget Sounders down/over/up to wherever you live.

The reason so much of the "action" happens around the Puget Sound area is that the 4 or 5 of us that are willing to plan and put meets together live here. It's difficult to plan a meet sight unseen 200 miles away from where we live. Also, it is the population center of more than 50% of our members (and probably 90% of the active ones), so it makes it easy to get the large turnouts.

Case in point: We planned a "big official" meet in Hood River Oregon this summer (very close to most of our Eastern WA folks and of course all the OR members), it was announced and planned for SIX MONTHS. Guess how many showed up? Two. And those two were from the Puget Sound area!

By contrast, last Friday night there were 8 members at the meet in Issaquah, just east of Seattle. This meet was just an informal gathering planned two weeks ahead of time and the attendence blew away the numbers for the Oregon meet, not to mention the Canada meet from this summer as well.

Not to take anything away from those events at all, I'm just illustrating attendence trends and how they have worked so far. Big numbers are fun and a great challenge, but they aren't everything. Those that went to the OR and BC meets had an absolute blast.

And as last Friday showed, it doesn't take a lot to put something together and get some SVXers to show up. Just give enough notice and go for it!
