Fall Colors Tour III

Well September is here, the days are getting shorter, the weather is changing....... Guess it means it's time to start thinking about FCT again!

For those not in the know, Fall Colors Tour is the oldest annually recurring event held by Northwest SVX. It actually dates back to before NWSVX existed, but this will be the third year in a row (hey, with our history three years is a long time!).

The name is pretty self-explanatory, the event is a driving tour that takes place during the Fall season, when all the trees turn pretty colors. The route changes slightly from year to year in the interest of variety and making improvements, but overall it follows a backroads path around Snohomish County in Western Washington. The location is fairly central to our "core group" of attendees we can always count on to show up, has some good driving roads (when we don't get stuck behind dump trucks or student drivers), and some nice scenery and small towns.

I will once again be testing out the route, and making some improvements (and maybe throwing in a surprise twist), especially taking into consideration the larger numbers of cars we are having these days (last year we had a record number 12 SVXes show up Saturday morning and ran out of room in our start location - that's a GOOD problem! ) Depending on the interest level, how far people are planning to come from, etc, we may also expand this event into more of a weekend event, with the drive just being the main part of it (don't worry to all you local driving enthusiasts, it is still the Fall Colors TOUR, but I've just heard rumors of some possible far away attendees and want to accomodate them by offering a bit more than just a half day drive).

So all that said, let's get some discussion going! Let's just leave this pretty open at this point and everyone can throw in their questions, comments, and opinions.

Some of the main things I'd like to know though, are if you are serious about attending, and if so, are there certain dates that would work best for you (weekend in October or November).

Thanks!

not like I have made it to many events recently.......so take it for what its worth....

hey wait....aren't I like a 1/4 cow on the nwsvx board...hmmm
the power....hehehe

Make it in mid-late October, November we risk losing our most prolific member. Plus we can dress up.

Drive was great last year, but maybe make it in reverse.

As a dining spot, the place in Arlington is so-so, but they want us back, so we should probably keep it. I think the Tulalip Casino is a great place too, but dining together might be a hassle if we can't get a room. I think its a great place to stop & talk cars.
Casino would be a great place to start

If its going to be an overnight tour, then a visit to Earl's is in order. Maybe even make it a Pre-Tour BBQ or something like that.

Maybe end up at the XXX in Issaquah Saturday night (if the custom car meets are still happening at that time) and show off all 30 in the area. (yes Earl, you will need to find a way to drive all 7 at once)

that's all for now.

Thanks for the good input Mayo! You actually touched on a lot of the things I was thinking about (and some I was already planning heh heh).

Who else?

I've gotta go this time! My vote is for anytime except the first two weekends of November. Earlier would mean prettier trees.

Neither of the first TWO weekends of November? Well, I'm thinking that will pretty much put us in October then cause I don't want to get it into the second half of November (too close to Thanksgiving, worse weather, all the leaves gone, etc).

Would the second half of October do well for everyone?

Any specific requests within that 2 or 3 week period?

(It's coming up FAST!)

Probably best for me is Oct 22-24. Next weekend in Halloween, not that I will have anything planned...

Oct 15-17 may be ok too.

No problem, we always welcome non SVXes too! Within reason of course, we wouldn't want the SVX to be the least represented car at an SVX meet!

I don't think you have to worry. All-Tracs are very rare.

Are you Elliot's friend?

I think I might have met you at the Krispy Kreme meet a few months ago. I had the other Teal.
