Axle seals
Hey everyone! I have a leak coming from my tranny and it appears to be my axle seals. I've been looking for these seals but it seems like they are a dealer parts. Does anyone know if there is another name for these seal, or a part #, or where I can get them???Thanks!

Re: Axle seals
The axle seals are actually in the front dif so they would leak gear oil not atf. They are also not user serviceable. They press in from the inside of the side plates on the dif so the side plates have to be removed to replace them. The side plates require a special tool to remove and install them because they are what is used to set both the load on the bearings the differntial spins on and the lash between the ring and pinion gears. If you don't get both the load on the bearings and the lash on the ring and pinion right then your dif breaks.
If you are in fact leaking gear oil from these seals I would suggest just keeping an eye on your gear oil level and adding as necessary. Quote:
