Stock alarm battery?

I've decided to get rid of the after market alarm. I’ve found my old stock remote keys and try to change the battery (they went dead).
It’s a RW-47 (SR-41) battery cell... eight of them put together to be precise. Is this standard battery pack or someone just did it for himself (both remotes has the same pack)?

I wasn’t able to find that kind of battery here. The closest one is 23A but it has 10mm diameter and this one seems to have 8mm diameter.

What kind of battery should I get for stock alarm remote?

Re: Stock alarm battery?

Not sure where you might find it there, but at Radio Shack here in the states, they sell a size "27A" and fits perfectly.

Re: Stock alarm battery?

Not even one shop knew about this type and I went and asked many of them. What a waste of time.

As for 27A - I've found lot's of them on allegro.pl (kind of ebay service)

Thanks a lot! Really appreciated!

Re: Stock alarm battery?

No problem, I've used it in at least one of mine and others have used this as well with no issues at all.

Re: Stock alarm battery?

I've got one 27A!
One problem solved but there's another - the stock alarm is not responding at all. Perhaps it's because there's after market (since 1996) installed. I don't know what kind alarm it is but I want to get rid of if anyway.

Right now clicking on stock remote does nothing. No light, no horn, nothing. Even when trying to go into programming mode it's not responding It really sucks

I'll get someone that know about this stuff but before I do that - is there something I should be aware of? Do you have any suggestion before cutting it out and trying to launch stock alarm?

Re: Stock alarm battery?

Since there was an aftermarket alarm installed, they may have completely disconnected the stock security system altogether. You may have to go poking around to check the wires and find out if anything is changed.
It may also be possible that your security unit is dead and that is why the original or previous owner put in an aftermarket security system..

What happens when you push the security button on the dash? Red light come on and start blinking?

Re: Stock alarm battery?

Nope. Red light does come on but it doesn't blink... just flashes red and nothing else happens
If I try to start the engine while security button is on - should it start? If it shouldn't and mine will start - does it means that whole alarm module is disconnected?

Cool Re: Stock alarm battery?

No, if it were disconnected then the light wouldn't do anything.

Blinking or flashing and then turning back off or just staying constant on?

Try pushing the button repeatedly to see if it will start to blink steadily.
