Where is the ECU?

I am trying to work out some driveability issues and stalling with my '94. I have retired/replace my '92 with an '04 Audi allroad (very interesting car!). So I have a complete good running but damaged car to use as a donor for my ill running and very pretty '94 Bordeaux.

I just swapped the mass flow meter and it seems to have helped. I would like to swap the ECU but I am unsure which of the many modules under the dash is the ECU. The manual locates is near the steering column. Looking up there is not fun for a guy my size, but I see two possible units. One is just to the left side of the steering column and has "hundreds or small wires going to it and a yellow plug in with all the wires. The second likely one is directly above teh steering column and just on the underside of the dash. It has a white plastic cover around it and would be very hard to get to. Can anyone tell me for sure which on of these or another module is the ECU for the ignition and fuel injection?

Re: Where is the ECU?

silver box with yellow plugs, has another box attached on top of it. undo the nuts on the back side bottom, loosen the ones on the top and lift up and toward the front of the car to remove.

Thanks. That is certainly the easier one to reach. What is the smaller box piggy-backed on top of it?

Re: Where is the ECU?

The one with black plugs is the TransmissionCU.
