headlight info

Many people here have done this 9006 to 9005 bulb conversion (myself included).

http://www.bmwe34.net/e34main/upgrade/more_light.htm

Since the BMW lights are ellipsoid like our SVX lights, I thought this article might be interesting to some people. I have an E36 and the stock headlights suffer from all of the shortcomings of our SVX lights. The BMW folks have a lot more resources than us poor SVX owners and have found some useful info that applies to us too.

Cliff Notes: The HIR 9011 bulb seems very good.

HIR bulbs & GE Nighthawks

OK, so I searched and found a few posts on them. How many people are using the HIR bulbs and what do you think of them? I just had a low beam burn out and might replace them with the HIR bulbs. Also what about the GE Nighthawks?

I'm currently using the Nighthawks (9005 conversion) and think they are fine.....cost less then the Silverstars and don't see much, if any difference in the light output.
Haven't tried (or even seen listed for sale) HIR bulbs, so can't comment on them.
