Just paint them Black, and your car will thank you. Check my locker - I did it originally as a temporary measure to cover some aluminium corrosion - and now I wouldn't bother with aftermarket rims, but you've got to have top rank tyres.

Wow, I didn't think wheel color would be that hard to figure out, I looked at a bunch of parts websites, but they weren't too helpful.

Hey Messenger,

I think your wheels are cool.

Subaru of course says they are cooler the other way.

One man's cool is another man's warped disc. Brake with decorum.

Messenger, you have any pics you could upload that show your car with the black wheels freshly washed? I kinda like the look more and more everytime I see your SVX but the pics you have are of your car after a few trips up and down your gravel lane after a good rain.

The finish on my rims is faded and/or scratched and they need to be redone this spring. I'm seriously considering redoing them in gloss black but a shot of yours all pretty and shiny may be just the thing to seal the deal!

-Johnny (even The "Batmobile" had black rims, why not the Batmobile?)

This very weekend, I shall get out the power hose, the full AutoGlym beauty pack, and give it some elbow - then put some fresh pics into my locker. If you have a paint called Hammerite, it's brilliant for the job, as you don't need to remove the tyres - very dense, self levelling if brushed on , one coat, comes in hammered or satin or gloss, and works really well as a touch-up when you've curbed the rim. I reckon the black is particularly suited to two-toners with the black roof line, but mainly it makes the rim and tyre blend into the wheel arch and lessens the impression that the wheels are a tad undesized for the arches - a common fault on Nipsters.

Much obliged! I will look for that paint. Pretty hard & touch stuff, huh? Sounds like a good idea for getting the edges of the rim but I am leary of brushing on the paint on a rim unless the car is a beater. Did you brush yours? If so, can you get a good close shot so I can see how well it applies? Thanks!

-Johnny

What's a beater? Anyway, it's well hard and dries very quick, and don't worry; it also comes in spray cans for you fusspots and finish freaks. Yes, I brushed it myself and will be proud to exhibit a close-up. high-res, jpeg. in due course.
