Smog test

i will have to get my svx smoged and here in Az. they (the state) stations do all smogs. They drive the car on two rollers with the driven wheels. I have not ask them about this for fear they wont know what the hell i am talking about. Will they have to jack up the rear end so the rear wheels will be off the ground because it being a AWD car? They rev the cars so high that they allmost jump off the rollers. all cars tested are spinning those rollers under a lot of power. In the other states i lived in they put the car in neutral and ran it at a certain RPM . Any one had this problem? Thanks... Jim Stanley

Cool

I've had fun with two emission tests in the past & have posted about them. However, in short, there should be a lane for AWD vehicles. In my state (Maryland), this lane's mechanicals are broken half the time. You can drive by your facility daily until you see a cone in front of the lane. Then you can probably get the benign tailpipe sniffer test, unless Arizona runs its show differently. Go talk to the facility manager too. He/she may be just enough of a car geek to let you do the "gentler" alternative.
Good luck, Ron.

In California, non-AWD vehciles have to use the new rollers while AWD vehciles do it the old fashion way (sniffer in the tail pipe). Your best bet is to call the local Subaru dealership and ask them what they do for their smog tests.
