help removing sunroof

Does anybody have a manual that shows how to remove the sunroof? I need to take it out to do some work and I don't want to break something due to ignorance. Any help would sure be appreciated.
Thanks guys.

I actually tried to remove one from a parts car once and I couldnt figure it out!! I worked on it a good hour, and I got the whole thing loose but it still wouldnt come out. Maybe someone with the tech books knows how...

Still looking for some help on this sunroof. I only worked on it about 15 minutes so I don't have your patience but I have vast experience on busting stuff. There is probably a slick way to take this piece out, I just have to find somebody who knows how.

I will try to look that up in the FSM when I have some time this afternoon or evening.

Thanks in advance. I spent the day trying to remove body parts in preparation for painting and made very slow progress. That black plastic garnish behind the rear window is nasty. The only way to remove that is to carefully break all the fasteners. Tricky. I plan on taking afternoons off this week and will be starting to sand tomorrow. Sure hope you can help me with the sunroof.

sunroof

If all you want to remove is the sunroof sheet metal it's easy, run your s-r all the way back, pull strait down on the front of the s-r headliner, it will pop down in front. Now pull the headliner forward to the front of the car, you can pull it out of the opening. Now there are six, ten mm nuts holding the roof to the sliding assembly. You can now remove the nuts, and lift off the roof.

You're right about those rear quarter garnishes. I came to the same conclusion. That's $30 worth of clips, too between the two of them!!!

Thank-you, thank-you! I will attempt the removal tomorrow. I figured out how to take the back bumper off after looking at the parts picture on Subaruparts.com. I sanded some tonight and it is going to be a long, sweaty project but do-able. I quit kind of early tonight as the car is in Grandpa's shop 20 miles from home and when I ate supper it was 21 below so I decided to get going before the van froze up completely. Tomorrow it's sand, sand, sand.
