trouble with the window switch

Hi,

since a few days I am facing a wired problem: The driver's side window switch for the passenger side front window works only one way (I can open the window but cannot close it using this switch). Fortunately I am still able to fully operate this window with the passenger's side switch.

Now I wonder wether I am facing a faulty switch only or trouble somewere in the electronic and how I could solve the problem.

I had the exact same problem on my 92. Its the master window control switch on the driver's side.

Fairly easy to replace once you get the door panel off. About $100 from subaru, but they show up on ebay often. Sometimes on this site.

In the meantime you should be able to get that switch to work by pressing down a bit on the back of that switch while using it normally to close the window.

while I am searching for a master window control switch as recommended. Now in addition to the previous described problem I cannot operate the drivers side window anymore although I do hear the motor running. I really wander wether this also can be blamed on a faulty switch or if this is part of a more sever problem...

That's likely the "Sleeve Lock". It's the little plastic part that attaches the cable to the window assembly. Taking the door panel off will verify this.

So now you cant operate the passenger side window up or down from the drivers side switch, but can you stil operate it from the passenger side switch? If you can still operate the passenger window from the passenger side switch, im sure it wouldnt be the sleeve lock. although it does sound likely
