1997 SVX LSi
Location of the SVX: Madison, SD 57042
About 60 miles from Sioux Falls, SD Year:1997 Model: Lsi VIN: JF1-CX8656 VH100211 Manufacture date: 10/03/96 Paint Color: Ebony pearl Interior Color: Beige/ taupe Mileage:118,000+/- Options: Moon roof wind deflector ( there were options!?) AWD or FWD: AWD Major service: Maintenance Records: I have records of everything I did since I bought the car, none previous to that. The seller claimed a full service history but he lied. Engine Condition: Runs strong, burns/leaks no oil. Transmission condition: No issues while I've owned it. Glass condition: No cracks, but the drivers movable glass' tint could be replaced. Type of tires and remaining tread: Hancook Venus V2 245/50 R16. These are great tires, 5 years old, maybe 2000 miles on them. Stock wheel size, but wider tread. Type of wheels: Stock, great shape for their age. Interior condition: Good for a 28 year old car, no tears. Scuffed where you'd expect it. The steering wheel could use reconditioning or paint. Body condition: Again, 28 years old, original paint. The hood lets it down the worst, needs a professional polish or painting. My back won't let me do this kind of thing anymore. The spoiler needs painting. Known defects or problems: This spring, when it came out of hibernation, I started looking thru the car with a different eye. I've been driving this one for 11 years now, ( the red '94 previous to this one 17 years) and after 28 years you just get used to things as they are, but when I start listing things needing attention with an eye towards passing it on to a new owner, I get depressed. Here's what I know; *One front strut has a tiny leak. The dealership tells me this, I see no drips on my floor, but it explains why the front sits 1\4 inch lower on one side. The damn strut is only ten years/10K miles old. Also, they say a ball joint needs replacing. *The neutral safety interlock needs attention, the brake pedal needn't be depressed to move the shift lever. This doesn't bother me, but others maybe it would. * The AC blows cold....when it wants to. There's a bad relay/sending unit/pressure switch somewhere that randomly cuts out. Freon fully charged. *The drivers side seat belt retractor is getting slow. *Happily, both sun visors are in good working order! *The front passenger side window switch is reluctant. I think a shot of contact cleaner would be in order. *Fuel gauge reads half full at a full tank, draws down fine towards empty. This is a common problem apparently. *Trip odometer just failed this spring, the last straw. Comments about the car: I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car 500 miles, but it is almost 30 years old so maybe carry some tools/spare hoses. This car taught me (again) the #1 rule of internet buying: never buy anything bigger than a bread box without laying eyes on it first. It was in not as represented, except the interior, by a mile. It came to me needing shocks, brakes, wheel bearings, a rear driveshaft, clutch packs, rear end, radiator, valve cover gaskets, the list goes on and on. I addressed all that and more but its time to let it go. I don't want to sugar coat it, but put it out there as a survivor. Its bone stock, I never hooned it or abused it. It was garaged in the winter. Its biggest drawback is the paint ( hood and spoiler). Last fall I replaced the catalytic converter, there being no Subaru unit available, I went with generic. Asking price: $5000.00 or do your best. I've gotten old damn it, between that and the local mechanic who's helped me keep both this one and the previous one running has retired. Parts are scarce or nonexistent. I'm tired. I have a binder of all receipts for work done, the original window sticker, and a rather tired car cover. An oversize sales brochure, child safety seat anchors ( never needed by me thankfully), the wind deflector (guaranteed to damage your paint, I removed it first thing but you can still see the indentations in the paint it caused). As I said, between this one and the red '94, its been 28 years of the SVX experience. Wouldn't change a thing. Bruce. If photos fail to appear, holler, ill try to fix. bcboat@msn.com https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared...71uJsZdiTx5ZwR

Re: 1997 SVX LSi
It's quite close to mine. It is VIN 00083.
Good luck with your sale. P.S. The struts and ball joint are still available.
